STOKASTIC

In the 21st Century, the price of something - physical, digital, real, or fake - is entirely up to what someone will pay for it.

Stokastic is project to produce meaningless numbers and data from random noise. In creating what could be real numbers or data from what isn't, Stokastic asks us to wonder what makes data so valuable when it is undistinguishable from noise.

What are some meaningless numbers worth to you?

PROJECTS

What Will You Pay?

This project creates a random price between $0 and $1,000,000 (not inclusive). You can go to the site and refresh it to get as many random prices as you like. You could also buy screenshots of those prices. Why would you pay for something that you could just observe for free? Capitalism? Wild speculation?? Utter boredom???

Fluctuations

A line on a graph fluctuates up and down to randomly-generated data. These charts bear a striking resemblence to those of stock prices. What might that tell us about financial markets?
